Passenger Car Motor Oils (PCMO)
AMSOIL’s passenger car motor oils are 100% synthetic formulations engineered to exceed modern engine requirements. They provide superior wear protection, cleanliness, and extended-drain capability compared to conventional oils. The PCMO line spans multiple tiers to suit different needs, all of which meet or surpass API SP and ILSAC GF-6 standards and major manufacturer specifications (e.g.
GM dexos1® Gen3).
Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil
This is AMSOIL’s top-tier oil, designed for enthusiasts seeking maximum protection and performance. It uses a premium synthetic base stock and an advanced additive package for extended drains up to 25,000 miles or 1 year (under normal service). Signature Series boasts 75% more engine protection against horsepower loss and wear than industry standards.
It has 50% more detergents (cleaning power) than AMSOIL OE oil to keep piston rings and oil passages clean, resulting in 90% less sludge and deposits in the Sequence VG sludge test. It also protects turbochargers 72% better than the GM dexos1 Gen2 specification requires, preventing harmful turbo coking and deposits. Signature Series offers 28% more acid-neutralizing power (TBN retention) than Mobil 1 Annual Protection, helping combat corrosive by-products for longer oil life.
In industry tests, it resisted viscosity increase – showing only 0.1% viscosity growth in the Sequence IIIH oxidation test, even when run double the standard test length. It also achieved 100% protection against LSPI (no pre-ignition events in testing) to safeguard modern turbo GDI engines. Signature Series is available in a wide viscosity range (from 0W-16 up to 5W-50) to cover most applications, and it meets dozens of manufacturer specs (API SP/Resource Conserving, ILSAC GF-6A/B, ACEA, and OEM requirements like GM dexos1® Gen3).
This oil’s robust chemistry and long-drain capability give drivers both peace of mind and convenience – it “blows the doors off” industry standards for wear, oxidation stability, and deposit control.
XL Extended-Life Synthetic Motor Oil
AMSOIL XL series oils are formulated for extended drain intervals up to 12,000 miles or 1 year, offering longer service than typical OEM recommendations while remaining API licensed for warranty compliance. The XL oils use a high-quality synthetic base with boosted detergency – about 25% more cleaning power than the OE series – to minimize sludge and deposits over the longer drain period. This keeps engines running cleaner and more efficient over time.
XL provides extra protection for up to 12,000 miles, including strong wear control and oxidation resistance for the full interval. It meets API SP and ILSAC GF-6A standards (as well as earlier API SN Plus) and is suitable for modern engines, including those with turbochargers and direct injection. In practice, XL delivers a great balance: extended-drain performance and engine cleanliness at a lower price point than Signature Series.
It is available in common viscosities (0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30, etc.), making it a popular choice for drivers who want an upgrade over OEM oil without committing to the longest drain interval. (Note: Even with extended capabilities, AMSOIL recommends following the 12k/1yr limit for XL; vehicles under warranty can use OEM drain intervals if required.)
OE 100% Synthetic Motor Oil
The OE line is AMSOIL’s OEM-style service fill oil, priced and formulated for regular drain intervals (the “Original Equipment” series). It delivers the benefits of a synthetic (improved cold flow, heat stability, cleaner operation) at an entry-level price, intended to be changed at the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended intervals. Despite being the most cost-effective AMSOIL tier, OE still outperforms many conventional and semi-synthetic oils.
It fights sludge and deposits with its pure synthetic base, keeping engines clean. In industry testing, AMSOIL OE provided 47% more wear protection than required by the GM dexos1® Gen2 spec – highlighting a strong safety margin in critical tests. It also achieved 100% protection against LSPI in the required turbocharged engine test, demonstrating excellent performance in modern GDI turbo engines.
OE oils meet API SP and ILSAC GF-6 standards and are fully backward-compatible. They are available in popular viscosities (e.g. 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30) to cover most cars and light trucks.
These oils are ideal for drivers who want AMSOIL quality on a budget or who prefer to change oil at OEM intervals – you get the enhanced wear protection and low-volatility of a synthetic oil, but at a price and change schedule comparable to dealership oil.
100% Synthetic High-Mileage Motor Oil
AMSOIL’s High-Mileage oils are specifically formulated for vehicles with 75,000 miles or more. These formulations contain a boosted dose of detergents and dispersants as well as seal conditioners to rejuvenate aging seals and reduce oil leaks. The high-mileage formula has a slightly thicker base for a given grade (“robust viscosity”) and extra anti-wear additives to protect older engines that may have increased clearances or wear.
It excels at cleaning up sludge and deposits left by prior oils: in fact, testing showed AMSOIL High-Mileage 0W-20 reduced engine sludge by 67% in a severe Sequence VH sludge test, demonstrating potent cleaning power to help restore performance. By dissolving and preventing sludge, it keeps oil passages and piston rings free, which is crucial for long-lived engines. The included seal conditioner swells and softens hardened seals, helping to stop leaks and reduce oil consumption common in high-mileage engines.
Like the XL series, High-Mileage AMSOIL is rated for up to 12,000 miles or 1 year of protection. It meets API SP and ILSAC GF-6A, so it’s safe for modern engines, but also has the zinc/phosphorus levels to protect older engine designs. Available viscosities include 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30, and 10W-30, covering most high-mileage vehicles on the road.
Overall, this oil goes the extra mile – literally – in cleaning and protecting aging engines, reducing oil consumption, and extending engine life for drivers who want to keep their trusted vehicle running strong. (All AMSOIL PCMO tiers are fully compatible with synthetic-blend or conventional oils for top-off and are safe for catalytic converters and oxygen sensors. However, to maximize benefits like extended drains and peak performance, use them exclusively.)
Diesel Engine Oils
AMSOIL’s diesel engine oils are engineered to handle the soot, high heat, and heavy loads associated with diesel pickups and commercial equipment. They span from elite extended-drain synthetics to robust synthetic-blends, all far exceeding API CK-4 and OEM requirements. These oils protect expensive diesel engines by reducing wear, deposits, and oil consumption even under extreme conditions (towing, long idling, high boost, etc.).
They also feature strong TBN retention to neutralize acids from diesel fuel combustion (critical for EGR/DPF-equipped engines) and are formulated for compatibility with emissions systems. Below are the main diesel product lines:
Signature Series Max-Duty Synthetic Diesel Oil
The Signature Series Max-Duty is the top-tier diesel oil, delivering maximum protection for hard-working turbodiesels. It is a 100% synthetic, heavy-duty formulation with an extended-drain additive package. Max-Duty oils provide an incredible safety margin in industry tests – for example, they offer 6× more engine protection (wear control) than the standard requires.
They also keep components remarkably clean: in a Caterpillar-1N test for high-heat deposits, Signature Series Diesel achieved up to 60% better turbocharger cleanliness than the threshold, ensuring turbos remain free of sludge and coking even when towing heavy or running high EGTs. Volatility and consumption are extremely low; the oil showed 76% less oil consumption than the API CK-4 limit in that severe test. This means less oil burn-off and fewer top-offs during long hauls.
Signature Series Max-Duty also provides about 2× better rust protection than standard, guarding engine internals during extended storage or infrequent use. These claims are backed by real-world results: in third-party teardown analysis, AMSOIL Signature Series Diesel Oil kept cylinder liners virtually free of wear or scuffing, looking “like new” compared to a competitor oil which allowed visible wear. This oil is formulated for extended drain intervals – up to 3× OEM mileage in engines that are monitoring oil by analysis – when supported by oil analysis, making it ideal for owners who want to minimize downtime.
It comes in multiple viscosity grades: 5W-30, 10W-30, 0W-40, 5W-40, and 15W-40, covering both modern diesel pickups and big rigs. All grades meet API CK-4 (and prior CJ-4, CI-4+), as well as many manufacturer specs (Cummins CES 20081/86, Detroit Diesel DFS 93K222, Ford WSS-M2C171-F1, Mack EOS-4.5, Volvo VDS4.5, and others as applicable). In short, Signature Series Max-Duty is the ultimate protection for diesel enthusiasts or professionals who demand the best for turbocharged, high-output engines, especially when pushing long service intervals or extreme loads.
Heavy-Duty Synthetic Diesel Oil
The Heavy-Duty series is a mid-tier full-synthetic diesel oil that still outperforms conventional and semi-synthetic oils by a wide margin. It is formulated for customers who want an upgrade in protection but may stick to OEM drain intervals. This line provides 4× more wear protection than required by industry standards, ensuring critical engine parts (cam lobes, lifters, crank bearings) stay well-protected against metal-on-metal contact.
It has excellent soot-handling and deposit control to keep piston rings free and turbochargers clean. Heavy-Duty Synthetic Diesel Oil is particularly well-suited for mixed fleets and off-road equipment: it meets API CK-4 and is available in 10W-30 and 5W-40 multi-grade viscosities, which cover a broad range of diesel applications (including older units that may call for API CJ-4/CI-4 or equipment needing ACEA E9). It’s engineered to outlast conventional oils, resisting viscosity breakdown and oxidation in severe service, which can allow for modestly extended drains (often you can safely go the full OEM severe-service interval or longer with oil analysis).
In summary, Heavy-Duty Synthetic Diesel Oil offers robust all-season protection, easier cold starts, and reduced oil consumption versus conventional 15W-40s – making it a cost-effective choice for operators wanting AMSOIL quality on a standard maintenance schedule.
Commercial-Grade Diesel Oil (Synthetic-Blend)
AMSOIL Commercial-Grade Diesel Oil is a premium synthetic-blend designed for fleets and heavy equipment operators who require OEM-qualified protection at a lower price point. It is formulated with >50% synthetic content, combined with advanced additives, to ensure it meets or exceeds all OEM requirements for both on-road and off-road diesels. This oil provides improved cold-flow and oxidation resistance over conventional oils, resulting in better startup protection and fewer deposits under high-temperature operation.
While it’s not a full extended-drain oil, it is built to handle long hours and severe duty within normal drain intervals – making it ideal for commercial trucks, buses, and machinery that accumulate heavy mileage or operating hours. Commercial-Grade Diesel Oil typically comes in 15W-40 (the most common grade for many diesel engines, including older or high-sulfur-fuel applications) and possibly a 10W-30. It carries API CK-4 and is backwards compatible (CJ-4, CI-4, etc.), and meets OEM specs like Cummins, Mack, Volvo, and Detroit Diesel standards for 15W-40 oil.
This oil’s blend of synthetic and high-quality conventional base stocks gives it a performance edge (better soot control, less thickening, and lower volatility) compared to regular 15W-40, but at a budget-friendly price for large volume users. For fleets looking to reduce maintenance costs without sacrificing engine protection, AMSOIL Commercial-Grade is an excellent choice that will keep engines clean and protected to OEM recommendations and beyond.
100% Synthetic Diesel Oil (for Light-Duty)
AMSOIL also offers specialized 100% Synthetic Diesel Oils aimed at light-duty diesel vehicles – such as diesel passenger cars, half-ton pickups, and SUVs. These oils are formulated to maximize performance and efficiency in smaller diesel engines, which often specify lower viscosities. For instance, AMSOIL 5W-30 Synthetic Diesel Oil (product code ADN) is tailored for applications like the Duramax 3.0L, Power Stroke 3.0L, VM Motori 3.0L (Ram EcoDiesel), and European diesel cars.
It delivers outstanding protection and even improved fuel economy due to reduced viscous drag. Despite the lower viscosity, this oil far exceeds industry protection requirements – in fact it provides up to 6× better wear protection than the strict API test demands. That means even under high-stress operation (towing, stop-and-go), critical engine parts are shielded from wear.
The 100% Synthetic Diesel Oil resists thermal breakdown in hot running small diesels (which can run hotter due to turbo and EGR use) and flows easily in cold weather for reliable winter starts. It meets API CK-4 and the appropriate OEM specs (for example, the 5W-30 meets Ford WSS-M2C214-B1 for the 3.0 Power Stroke, as well as GM dexosD and others where required). If your diesel calls for a 15W-40 but you want full synthetic, AMSOIL has that covered in the Signature or Heavy-Duty lines; the “100% Synthetic Diesel Oil” designation is typically used for these lower-viscosity, fuel-efficient diesel oils for newer engines.
Overall, these light-duty diesel oils give you the fuel economy, cold-start and high-temp advantages of synthetics, plus diesel-specific robustness (high TBN, anti-soot, anti-wear) to keep your modern diesel running at its best. They are perfect for owners of diesel Jeeps, cars, or half-ton trucks who want an upgrade over conventional CJ-4/CJ-4 oils without going to a racing or extended-drain formula. (Additionally, AMSOIL produces a DOMINATOR® Competition Diesel Oil (20W-50) for dedicated diesel drag or pulling trucks requiring extra high viscosity and anti-wear – this racing formula is built to handle extremely high cylinder pressures and temperature. It’s a niche product for competition use, not for on-highway due to its focused design.)
Automatic Transmission Fluids
AMSOIL’s transmission fluids are built to outperform OEM fluids in protection, performance, and longevity. The lineup includes fluids for traditional step-automatics as well as CVT and DCT applications. All are fully synthetic, which means they have inherently better high-temperature stability and low-temperature fluidity than petroleum ATFs.
They resist oxidation, varnish, and clutch glazing in severe service (like towing, commercial use, racing) – scenarios that can quickly break down lesser fluids. AMSOIL designs these fluids to meet or exceed the specifications of a wide range of vehicle manufacturers, ensuring you can use them without compromising warranty or shift quality. Below are the key categories:
Signature Series Multi-Vehicle ATF (including Fuel-Efficient ATL and Ultra-Low-Viscosity)
The Signature Series Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid is AMSOIL’s premium ATF, available in formulations for standard viscosity, low viscosity, and ultra-low viscosity applications. These cover the gamut from older 3- and 4-speed automatics up to the latest 8-10+ speed transmissions requiring specialty fluids. Signature Series ATF is engineered for severe-service durability – it uses a high-strength base oil and advanced antioxidants to resist thermal breakdown far longer than typical ATF.
In a real-world test, AMSOIL’s ATF was run in Las Vegas taxi cabs for 180,000 miles of severe service; analysis showed it still met critical specifications. Notably, after this torture test, the fluid retained 83% of its original oxidation inhibitors (additives), and it still exceeded the Chrysler ATF+4 standard for oxidation resistance as a used fluid – an almost unheard-of level of longevity. Internal inspection of the test transmission found virtually no sludge or deposits and clean clutch plates.
The fluid’s film strength and anti-wear additives protected gears and bushings so well that even after 180k miles, it achieved a “Pass at Stage 12” in the FZG gear test, which is the highest gear protection level – equivalent to or better than new fluid performance. This demonstrates how Signature Series ATF maintains its protective properties even when others would be completely exhausted. It also maintains critical friction characteristics over time: testing showed that after the long taxi service, the used ATF still provided nearly identical clutch friction and anti-shudder performance as new fluid.
This means consistent, smooth shifts and no shudder throughout its life. Cold-weather performance is also exceptional – the synthetic formula remains fluid in sub-zero temperatures, so shift response is quick even on cold starts. In terms of specifications, the Multi-Vehicle ATF (product code ATF) is suitable for applications calling for older Dexron II/III, Mercon, Toyota T-IV, Honda Z-1, etc., while the Fuel-Efficient ATF (ATL) covers newer low-viscosity requirements like GM Dexron VI, Ford Mercon LV, Toyota WS, etc..
The Ultra-Low Viscosity ATF (ATL Ultra-LOW, product code ULV) meets the latest Ford MERCON ULV and GM DEXRON ULV specs used in some 10-speed transmissions. All Signature Series ATFs are capable of double the OEM severe-service drain interval (or more) – e.g., AMSOIL recommends doubling the severe service interval for transmissions when using this fluid – due to the fluid’s ability to stay in grade and uncontaminated longer. Whether you’re towing heavy loads, racing, or just want the best for your daily driver, the Signature Series ATF offers outstanding thermal stability, wear control and friction retention, which translates to longer transmission life and smoother operation under all conditions.
OE Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid
AMSOIL OE ATF is a cost-effective fully synthetic ATF intended for regular OEM drain intervals. It’s a great upgrade from stock fluids while being priced for more frequent changes. The OE ATF provides excellent anti-wear protection and smooth shifting for cars and light trucks.
It resists varnish and sludge so your valve body and solenoids stay clean for consistent performance. Like the Signature ATF, it comes in Multi-Vehicle and Low-Viscosity formulations to match the required spec of your transmission. The OE Multi-Vehicle ATF covers the same range of Dexron/Mercon, ATF+4, etc., specs as listed above, and the OE Low-Viscosity ATF (often labeled OTL) covers Dexron VI, Mercon LV, Toyota WS, and other low-vis needs.
Though not intended for extended intervals, the synthetic base stock in OE ATF will still last longer and protect better than conventional ATF, especially in temperature extremes. It also offers dependable frictional performance to ensure long clutch pack life and no shudder. In short, OE Synthetic ATF is perfect for drivers who prefer to change transmission fluid at manufacturer intervals (or who have warranties requiring it), but still want the benefits of a synthetic – namely, better wear protection, cooler operation and cleaner internals over the fluid’s life.
It’s also a smart choice for professional installers or service shops looking to offer an upgrade ATF that’s API-licensed where applicable and won’t deviate from OEM service recommendations.
Synthetic CVT Fluid
Continuously Variable Transmissions have unique lubrication needs, and AMSOIL Synthetic CVT Fluid is formulated to excel in both belt-type and chain-type CVTs. It provides stable frictional characteristics to prevent belt slip (or chain slip) and eliminate shudder, while also protecting the steel belts/chains and pulleys from wear. The fluid is designed to stay within the correct friction coefficient for CVT clutches throughout the OEM-recommended drain interval, meaning you maintain smooth, consistent ratio changes with no jerking or flaring.
It contains robust anti-wear chemistry to guard the critical contact faces of the pulleys and the belt elements under the extremely high pressures they experience. Additionally, CVT transmissions can generate a lot of heat due to friction – AMSOIL CVT Fluid resists oxidation and varnish formation, keeping the CVT internals clean and free-moving. Whether you’re in stop-and-go city driving or climbing mountain roads (high load on the CVT), this fluid will help prevent those “metal belt slip” conditions that often lead to CVT failure.
It meets or exceeds the service fill requirements of most automakers’ CVTs – including Nissan (NS-2, NS-3), Toyota (TC/FE), Honda HCF-2, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Chrysler/Jeep, and more. Users of AMSOIL CVT Fluid often notice improved driveability – a more “hooked up” feel with less RPM flaring – and in the long run, this translates to longer CVT life and performance.
100% Synthetic DCT Fluid
Dual-Clutch Transmissions (DCTs), whether wet-clutch DSGs or other automated manuals, require a fluid that can function as both a gear oil and a clutch friction fluid. AMSOIL 100% Synthetic DCT Fluid is designed to protect the intricate dual-clutch packs and synchronizer gears in these transmissions, even under the most intense, high-heat conditions. It has a carefully tuned friction modifier package to ensure quick, yet smooth clutch engagement and prevent clutch slippage (anti-shudder) over a wide temperature range.
This preserves the quick shifting performance DCTs are known for, and prevents the rough shifts or lurching that can occur if the fluid’s friction properties degrade. Because DCTs can generate extreme localized heat (clutches) while also needing to lubricate gears at high speed, this fluid uses a thermally stable synthetic base that resists breakdown and retains proper viscosity. The high film strength protects gear teeth and bearings from wear, even during high torque, aggressive driving.
AMSOIL DCT Fluid meets specs for most European and high-performance DCTs, including VW/Audi (DSG G 052 182 etc.), BMW (M DCT), Porsche PDK, Mercedes-Benz, Ford (Getrag dual-clutch), and others – a testament to its broad capability. For example, it covers BMW’s DCTF-1 and Pentosin’s FFL-4 which are used in many dual-clutch supercars. By using this fluid, enthusiasts and daily drivers alike can expect crisp shifting and robust component protection.
It’s particularly beneficial in situations like track days or spirited driving, where the DCT clutches might otherwise overheat – AMSOIL DCT Fluid will help keep temperatures in check and prevent fade. In summary, this lubricant ensures that even high-tech transmissions are protected from wear and operate at peak performance, extending the service life of expensive dual-clutch units. (AMSOIL also offers specialized manual transmission fluids and powershift transmission fluids outside the scope of this summary. For completeness: products like Manual Synchromesh (MTF) and Manual Transmission Gear Lube (MTG) cater to stick-shift gearboxes with synchronizers, providing smooth shifts and yellow-metal compatibility. Additionally, Torque-Drive® ATF is a heavy-duty ATF for Allison and other large transmissions requiring TES-295 performance.
These are niche fluids for specific use cases.)
Oil and Air Filters
High-quality filtration is the perfect complement to AMSOIL’s advanced lubricants. AMSOIL offers a range of oil filters and intake air filters designed to trap harmful contaminants and enable extended service intervals. By using synthetic media technologies, AMSOIL filters achieve higher efficiency and capacity than typical filters, meaning they catch more dirt and can go longer before clogging.
This keeps oil and air cleaner, preserving engine health and performance. Key filter products include:
AMSOIL Ea® Oil Filters (Full-Flow Engine Filters)
Ea Oil Filters (the “Ea” stands for Absolute Efficiency) are premium oil filters constructed with nanofiber synthetic media. This media is far more efficient at small particle removal than traditional cellulose (paper) elements. AMSOIL Ea filters provide 99% filtration efficiency at 20 microns (per ISO 4548-12 test), meaning they capture virtually all particles that cause engine wear (most engine wear is caused by debris 5–25 microns in size).
For comparison, many OEM or economy filters might only capture ~50-80% at that size. The advanced full-synthetic media in Ea filters also offers higher capacity – it can hold more contaminants before flow is restricted – and superior durability (it doesn’t degrade in hot oil over long intervals). This allows AMSOIL to confidently pair these filters with extended-drain oils.
In fact, there are two series of these filters: filters with the EA15K product code are recommended for 15,000 miles (or one year) of service in normal or severe conditions, and older-generation EAO filters (EaO) were rated up to 25,000 miles (or one year) in normal service (15k in severe). The latest guidance is to use 15K miles/1 year as a blanket recommendation for all Ea filters in automotive use, which aligns with the longest oil change intervals like those of Signature Series oil. These filters prevent oil pressure drop over time by maintaining flow even as they load with debris, thanks to the high capacity design.
They also feature an easy-grip spin-on canister and silicone anti-drainback valves for better sealing and oil flow on startup. By removing particles down to 20µm at nearly absolute efficiency and even significantly filtering finer particles, Ea oil filters dramatically reduce engine wear and help engines last longer. They are available for most cars, trucks, motorcycles, and powersports – essentially any application where an AMSOIL oil is used, there is usually an Ea filter to match.
When using AMSOIL oil and Ea filters together, users can confidently go the full extended drain interval with superior protection. (If an AMSOIL filter is used with another brand of oil, AMSOIL recommends changing the filter per the vehicle’s normal interval to avoid overextending the oil – the filter itself can handle it, but the oil might not.)
AMSOIL EAHD Heavy-Duty Extended-Life Oil Filters
For heavy-duty diesel trucks and industrial engines, AMSOIL offers EAHD filters. These are similar synthetic-media filters but in high-capacity, large-size configurations for big engines. They also achieve 99% efficiency at 20 microns with high contaminant capacity to accommodate the heavy soot and contaminant loads in diesel service.
EAHD filters are built to allow extended service intervals that match the longer drain intervals of AMSOIL’s heavy-duty diesel oils. In other words, a trucker running Signature Series Max-Duty Diesel oil for, say, 60,000 miles with bypass filtration (per oil analysis) can use an EAHD full-flow filter that will not need to be changed mid-interval. The construction is rugged to withstand high oil pressures and long durations.
Using these ensures that even in extreme on/off-road conditions, the oil stays free of abrasive particles, supporting the ultra-long engine life that AMSOIL users often achieve in fleet service.
AMSOIL Bypass Filtration Systems
For the ultimate engine protection and extended drain capability, AMSOIL has Bypass Filter systems. These systems add a secondary filter (or two) that siphons a small portion of the oil flow and filters it at an extremely fine level – down to about 2 microns (absolute) – which is far below what full-flow filters capture. The AMSOIL EABP bypass filters can remove minute soot and wear particles that otherwise remain suspended in the oil and contribute to engine wear and oil degradation.
By constantly cleaning a percentage of the oil to this micro-level and returning it to the sump, over time the entire oil charge stays significantly cleaner than with the stock filter alone. This dramatically extends both oil life and engine life. For instance, bypass filtration can reduce the wear metals and insoluble content in oil by orders of magnitude – engines run almost “hospital clean” oil after a certain period with bypass.
AMSOIL offers several kits (Single Remote, Dual Remote, etc.) to fit different engines. The single-bypass kits (BMK21, BMK30 for heavy-duty, etc.) route oil from a port (or sandwich adapter) through the bypass filter and back to the pan with an oil return line. The Dual Guard (BMK22) mounts two bypass filters in parallel for even more capacity – often used on large sump systems over 15 quarts.
AMSOIL’s heavy-duty bypass (BMK30) is designed for big rigs and industrial engines that run continuously. With these systems, users commonly extend oil drains to several times OEM recommendations, verified by oil analysis, because the oil stays free of contaminants that would normally trigger a change. Even if you don’t extend drains, the bypass filter will ensure your engine internals experience far less abrasion (from soot or grit) and thus wear is greatly reduced.
It’s not uncommon for diesel pickups using AMSOIL + bypass to show nearly zero engine wear in used-oil analyses. In summary, AMSOIL bypass filtration is a proven way to maximize engine longevity and minimize maintenance, especially for high-output diesels, fleet trucks, or any vehicle you intend to keep indefinitely.
Ea Motorcycle and Powersports Oil Filters (EaOM)
AMSOIL provides filters tailored for motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, and other powersports under the EaOM line. These filters use similar nanofiber media technology to achieve 99% efficiency at 20 microns in a smaller package. This is crucial for motorcycles which often share engine oil with the transmission and clutch – keeping oil extremely clean protects engine bearings, transmission gears, and prevents clutch material from recirculating.
The powersports filters are built to handle the typically higher flow rates of motorcycle oil pumps and the sometimes higher oil temperatures. They come in popular sizes to replace OEM filters on Harley-Davidson®, metric bikes, dirt bikes, ATVs, etc., and many have the option of chrome or black finish for V-twin customizers. Despite their smaller size, they still offer excellent contaminant capacity for extended use.
AMSOIL recommends these filters up to the OEM change interval or one year. For Harley and other bikes running extended drains with AMSOIL 20W-50, riders often change the EaOM filter at the same time as the oil (which could be yearly or 10k+ miles) and still enjoy superior filtration vs. stock filters. Ultimately, using an EaOM filter means your motorcycle or ATV engine is afforded the same high level of protection as your car – improved filtering of fine particles and robust construction for peace of mind.
This is especially valuable for bikes with no oil sump (shared oil) and for ATVs/UTVs often operating in dusty, muddy environments.
Air Filters
While AMSOIL no longer manufactures a full line of drop-in automotive air filters (their older EaA filters with nanofiber media set industry benchmarks for efficiency), they ensure customers have access to top-tier air filtration through partnerships and specific products. On the automotive side, AMSOIL offers WIX and MANN filters via their catalog – premium OEM-quality air filters that provide excellent filtration and meet OEM service intervals. These filters use improved cellulose or synthetic blend media to trap dirt and protect your engine’s intake.
AMSOIL also distributes Donaldson heavy-duty air filters (P-Series) for commercial trucks and equipment – Donaldson filters are known for their high efficiency and capacity, often using advanced media to prolong service life in dusty conditions. For performance enthusiasts, AMSOIL has EaAU Universal Air Induction Filters (cone filters) that use the same nanofiber tech. These provide near-absolute efficiency (roughly 98.7% at 2 microns, per testing when they were introduced) while also flowing well – they are excellent for custom intake setups, racing, or extended off-road use because they hold a lot of dirt before restricting flow. Similarly, AMSOIL Ea racing air filters keep debris out of carburetors in racing environments without the compromise of oiled foam or cotton gauze filters.
In summary, whatever the application, AMSOIL ensures optimal air filtration is available to pair with their oils. Clean intake air is vital for engine longevity: a high-efficiency air filter prevents abrasive dust from entering cylinders, which avoids wear to rings and cylinders. By using quality air filters (be it AMSOIL’s own or their partnered brands), users can expect extended engine life, preserved performance (since mass airflow sensors and injectors stay cleaner), and proper fuel economy.
It’s an often overlooked aspect, but AMSOIL’s commitment to “protection” extends beyond lubricants to the very air your engine breathes. (AMSOIL also offers cabin air filters by MANN for many cars, ensuring the air you breathe inside is clean – though not performance-related, it’s another part of their comprehensive coverage.)
Gear Lubricants
AMSOIL gear lubes are formulated to handle the extreme pressures and temperatures found in differentials, final drives, and gearboxes. They come in both automotive gear oils (for axles and transfer cases) and specialty gear fluids (for marine lower units, motorcycle gearboxes, etc.). The flagship is the SEVERE GEAR® 100% Synthetic Gear Lube line, available in viscosities like 75W-90, 80W-140, 75W-110, and 75W-140.
These GL-5 rated lubes use a heavy-duty synthetic base and an overload of extreme-pressure (EP) additives. They exhibit superior film strength that withstands shock loading and prevents wear under high torque. SEVERE GEAR is known for its ability to maintain viscosity under stress and not shear down – it “stays in grade,” so the gear teeth are always protected by a thick lubricating film.
The proprietary additives in it actually chemically bond to metal surfaces (forming a micro-thin iron sulfide barrier) which provides an extra layer of defense against wear, pitting, and scoring on gear faces. This is especially important during high shock loads (like a truck spinning tires that suddenly gain traction – a scenario that can strip gears with inferior oil). AMSOIL gear lubes also help prevent a phenomenon called thermal runaway: in severe conditions, poor-quality lubes can allow friction to increase, generating heat, which thins the oil and causes more friction – a vicious cycle leading to failure.
SEVERE GEAR’s formulation controls friction and heat, inhibiting thermal runaway and thus protecting the gear set from overheating. Many users notice lower differential temperatures when towing or racing after switching to AMSOIL. Additionally, these lubes have outstanding oxidation stability – they don’t form sludge or varnish even after prolonged high-temperature operation.
This means diff internals stay clean and free-moving, including critical parts like limited-slip clutch plates or locking diff mechanisms. SEVERE GEAR is designed for extended drain intervals as well: it can often go 2–3 times longer than conventional gear oil under proper conditions (for example, in over-the-road trucks it’s used in 500k+ mile drain programs with success). It also contains robust anti-rust and anti-foam agents, ensuring performance in moist or agitated conditions.
Aside from Severe Gear, AMSOIL has Marine-specific gear lube (for outboard and stern drive lower units) which is engineered to resist water dilution and corrosion. It continues protecting even with up to 15% water contamination – whereas ordinary gear oils can foam or fail when water enters. In testing, the AMSOIL Marine Gear Oil retained its extreme-pressure protection despite significant water content, a testament to its resilience in case of seal leaks.
This is crucial for marine gearcases, which often face water intrusion. For motorcycles and powersports, AMSOIL offers gear oils like Synthetic Chaincase & Gear Oil for snowmobile/ATV chaincases and some motorcycle transmissions. There’s also V-Twin Transmission Fluid for Harley-Davidson transmissions, tuned to quiet gear whine and smooth out shifting. These specialized lubes all share the AMSOIL trait of high film strength, anti-wear protection, and longevity.
In summary, AMSOIL gear lubricants provide maximum protection for gear sets under extreme load. Benefits include reduced wear (longer ring & pinion life), reduced operating temperature, extended component life, and often improved efficiency (some users note a slight mpg improvement or smoother operation due to reduced friction). They meet or exceed API GL-5 and MT-1 requirements (where applicable) and are compatible with limited-slip differentials (most viscosities include limited-slip friction modifier, but if needed, AMSOIL also sells Slip-Lock additive separately to fine-tune LS clutch performance).
Whether it’s in a race car differential, a 4x4 hauling heavy trailers, or an industrial gearbox, AMSOIL gear lubes deliver uncompromising, long-lasting protection.
Greases
AMSOIL’s line of synthetic greases covers a wide range of applications, each formulated to solve specific lubrication challenges. All AMSOIL greases start with synthetic base oils for excellent stability across temperatures and are fortified with premium thickeners and additives to provide exceptional load-carrying ability, rust protection, and longevity. For example, Domin ator® Synthetic Racing Grease (GRG) is designed for high-speed bearings and chassis parts in racing conditions. It has a high dropping point and stays in place at extreme temperatures (both high and low down to -40°F), ensuring bearings in race cars or snowmobiles remain protected at speed. The Synthetic Polymeric Off-Road Grease (GPOR) is formulated for heavy-load, low-speed, shock-loading conditions, such as those in construction equipment or 4x4 suspensions. This grease uses a special calcium-sulfonate complex thickener and heavy base oil with tackifying polymers, so it tenaciously stays in place on parts like loader bucket pins or ball joints under pounding conditions. It provides a cushion and resists pound-out where conventional greases would be squeezed out.
It’s available in NLGI #1 (GPOR1) and #2 (GPOR2) to suit various centralized lube systems or manual greasing preferences. Under severe testing, these off-road greases show remarkable ability to stay put and keep lubricating under crushing loads – meaning longer intervals between re-greasing and less wear on pins, bushings, and joints. For over-the-road trucks and general chassis use, AMSOIL has Synthetic Polymeric Truck, Chassis and Equipment Grease (GPTR) in NLGI #1 and #2. This grease excels in extreme-pressure environments (wheel bearings, fifth-wheel plates, u-joints, etc.), providing a long-lasting film. It’s extremely water resistant as well, which is important for greased parts exposed to the elements.
There’s also Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease (GLC), which is an NLGI #2 GC-LB certified grease for automotive wheel bearings and suspension – it outperforms conventional lithium complex greases by maintaining consistency and protection at high temps and during water washout. For wet environments, AMSOIL makes Synthetic Water-Resistant Grease (GWR) (NLGI #2). This is ideal for boat trailer wheel bearings, marine equipment, or anywhere frequent water exposure or even submersion occurs. It has enhanced resistance to water washout and spray-off, so it won’t emulsify or dissolve away when hit with water.
It also prevents corrosion in saltwater conditions. AMSOIL even offers an Extreme High-Viscosity Lithium-Complex Grease (GVC) which is an NLGI #2 grease with an extremely thick base oil (for very slow, heavily-loaded plain bearings or open gears). It’s great for industrial applications like heavy mining equipment that moves slowly under huge loads – it stays put and provides a cushioning film. All these greases have in common the ability to reduce wear under extreme conditions and stay in service longer than conventional greases, thereby extending relubrication intervals. They are formulated to not corrode or react with components (safe for yellow metals where applicable) and to remain effective across wide temperature ranges. The synthetic base gives them an advantage in cold weather (they won’t thicken up as much, so bearings are lubricated on startup) and in high heat (they won’t oxidize into hard deposits quickly).
In practical terms, using AMSOIL grease means pins, bushings, bearings, and joints are less likely to fail or need replacement. For instance, fleet maintenance reports often show reduced component failures and extended greasing intervals after switching to AMSOIL greases, which lowers maintenance costs. In summary, AMSOIL’s greases provide maximum wear protection, superb adhesion, and water resistance, ensuring your machinery and vehicles operate smoothly under the harshest conditions.
(AMSOIL also has a Spray Grease (GSP) aerosol, which is basically their multi-purpose grease in a spray can for convenience in reaching hinges, slides, chains, etc. It sprays on thin then sets into a grease. And a Food Grade Grease (GXC) for food processing equipment, which is NSF H-1 rated for incidental food contact.
These niche products round out the grease line for specific needs.)
Two-Stroke Oils
AMSOIL has a rich history in two-stroke (2-cycle) oils, being one of the early innovators of high-performance synthetic 2T oil. Their two-stroke oils are formulated to address the main challenges of 2-cycle engines: lubricating and protecting engine parts without causing deposit buildup or excessive smoke, all while being mixed with fuel (either via injector or pre-mix). The product range is diverse, covering everything from outboard marine engines to high-performance snowmobiles and handheld power equipment.
Key features of all AMSOIL 2-stroke oils include low ash content (or ashless for outboard use) to prevent combustion chamber deposits, strong film strength for piston and bearing protection, and robust detergents to keep exhaust ports and power valves clean. Notable products: DOMINATOR® Synthetic 2-Stroke Racing Oil (TDR): As the name implies, this is designed for high-output racing engines – think motocross bikes, snowcross sleds, karting, etc. It’s a premix oil (though can be used in injectors if appropriate) formulated to maximize power by minimizing friction and wear at the ragged edge of performance. It has extra film strength to prevent piston scuffing under extreme heat and loads, and high levels of anti-wear additives.
It’s not focused on low smoke, but on ultimate protection and power. Racers find that engines run cooler and parts last longer with DOMINATOR, even under full-throttle abuse. INTERCEPTOR® Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil (AIT): This oil is tailored for modern snowmobiles and other 2T powersports that have variable exhaust power valves. It’s designed to burn cleanly and prevent deposit formation specifically on those power valves. In fact, INTERCEPTOR has a reputation for eliminating power valve sticking – in a 49-hour test in a Ski-Doo E-TEC engine, it prevented valve sticking whereas competitors often lead to stuck valves.
It’s an injector-capable oil (can also be pre-mixed) that meets API TC and the latest manufacturer specs. INTERCEPTOR provides excellent cold-flow for winter use, exceptional lubricity for high-RPM mountain or trail sleds, and low smoke. Many snowmobilers report that even after a hard season, their exhaust valves are clean and move freely thanks to this oil, avoiding the frequent cleaning that other oils require.
HP Marine® Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil (HPM) and Outboard 100:1 Pre-Mix: For marine applications, AMSOIL offers TC-W3 certified oils that excel in water-cooled 2-stroke engines. HP Marine is an injector or premix oil for outboard motors, personal watercraft, and jet skis. It has high dispersancy to prevent piston ring sticking and spark plug fouling from carbon, which is crucial in often lower-temp running outboards.
It’s also fortified to prevent rust in damp environments. There is an Outboard 100:1 Pre-Mix Oil (product code ATO) formulated to be mixed at 100:1 in older outboards that normally run 50:1 – it contains a heavy dose of low-temperature dispersants to handle the typically cooler operation of outboards and to drastically reduce carbon deposits. This allows clean performance even at such lean mix ratios.
Many users have successfully used it at 100:1 to reduce smoke and plug fouling without sacrificing protection. SABER® Professional 100:1 Pre-Mix (ATP): This is a very popular oil for small handheld equipment like chainsaws, string trimmers, blowers, etc. It’s formulated to safely run at mix ratios up to 100:1, which means one mix can work for all your 2T lawn equipment (no need for multiple mix ratios). Running SABER at 80:1 or 100:1 greatly reduces smoke and odor.
Despite the lean mix, SABER still provides excellent protection – in testing it kept a commercial string trimmer 96% carbon-free in the exhaust port and spark arrestor screen, whereas a leading oil’s standard mix resulted in a nearly clogged screen (98% blockage). The difference is night and day in terms of deposits and performance. SABER Professional’s high detergency and synthetic base also minimize ring sticking and exhaust port clogging.
Users often report easier starts, more power, and no plug fouling using SABER at the recommended mix, plus the convenience of one mix ratio for everything. In addition to these, AMSOIL has Synthetic Injector Oil (AIO) for snowmobiles and outboards – a cost-effective injector oil that still outperforms most manufacturer oils, and SABER Outboard for 100:1 premix in outboards. They also have specialized products like Snowmobile injector oil for budget-conscious riders, etc., but the ones above are highlights. In summary, AMSOIL’s 2-stroke oils allow engines to reach their peak performance (max RPM and power) while staying significantly cleaner and protected. Engines run on these oils typically have longer ring life, cleaner exhaust components, less smoke, and no stuck rings or valves. And importantly, especially with SABER, the reduced smoke and carbon means a better user experience (no cloud of smoke on startup, less gumming of mufflers).
Each oil is optimized for its domain: Racing oil for extreme load, Injector oils for everyday reliability and cleanliness, and lean-mix oils for convenience and low smoke. They all meet or exceed the relevant specifications (API TC, JASO FD, ISO-L-EGD for land oils; NMMA TC-W3 for marine oils), proving their high quality. If you have any two-stroke engine – from a 200HP outboard to a chainsaw – AMSOIL likely has a superior oil to keep it running stronger and longer.
Four-Stroke (Motorcycle, ATV, & Small Engine) Oils
AMSOIL produces a variety of 4-stroke engine oils beyond the passenger car range, each tailored to specific powersports or small engine applications. These oils address the unique demands such engines face, such as combined engine/transmission use, wet-clutch compatibility, high temperatures in air-cooled engines, or prolonged constant-speed operation in small utility engines. Here are key categories:
Motorcycle & ATV Oils
Metric Motorcycle Oils (10W-30, 10W-40, 15W-50) – Designed for sport bikes, touring bikes, and ATVs/UTVs, these oils meet JASO MA/MA2 requirements for wet clutches, ensuring no clutch slippage and positive engagement. They also have robust additive packages to handle the shear stresses of transmission gears (many motorcycles share engine oil with the gearbox). AMSOIL motorcycle oils use fortified anti-wear chemistry (high zinc/phosphorus) to protect cam lobes and followers, which often see steep ramps and high spring pressures in bikes.
They maintain viscosity under the severe transmission shear – meaning the oil stay in grade and continues protecting both engine and gearbox over the drain interval. Riders often notice smoother shifting and quieter valve train operation with AMSOIL Metric oils. These oils also provide excellent high-temperature protection crucial for air- or oil-cooled bikes that can run very hot in traffic.
For instance, AMSOIL 10W-40 Motorcycle Oil was chosen by Briggs & Stratton for their performance engines and it’s been torture tested in severe conditions (as noted by an anecdote: B&S chose AMSOIL to formulate the oil for their racing Mower engines). In use, these oils can safely run longer than OEM suggested intervals – many motorcyclists do yearly changes with them – and still get outstanding wear control and cleanliness. V-Twin Motorcycle Oils (20W-50, 15W-60) – AMSOIL’s V-Twin synthetic is very popular among Harley-Davidson® owners and other American V-twins. It’s formulated to handle the combined requirements of engine, transmission, and primary chaincase (though AMSOIL also offers specific primary and transmission fluids, the 20W-50 can be used in all three). The V-Twin oil has high film strength to protect big, low-RPM pushrod engines that can generate a lot of heat.
It also has extra corrosion inhibitors because many bikes are stored or used seasonally – AMSOIL V-Twin oil fights rust during storage. In a standardized wear test, it showed significantly less wear than Harley’s own oil. V-Twin owners report lower operating temperatures (oil temps) and reduced valvetrain noise with AMSOIL.
The oil’s additive system also minimizes foaming (important in bikes with combined sump for trans and engine) and prevents deposit formation in hot spots like piston crowns and ring lands. It meets API SG/SL and JASO MA. For high-performance custom V-twins, there’s a 15W-60 option which offers even thicker film for supercharged or large displacement engines.
Dirt Bike Oils (10W-40, 10W-50) – AMSOIL has a dedicated dirt bike oil line, engineered for the specific needs of motocross and off-road motorcycles which often have separate engine oil compartments. These oils have a stable friction modifier package to ensure the clutch can hook up even under high RPM launches, and they resist shear from the gearbox to maintain consistent viscosity. The result is consistent clutch feel and protection over long motos or trail rides.
They also excel at controlling top-end wear (cam and bucket lifters in high-revving singles). Many racers using AMSOIL Dirt Bike oil note that their clutch plates and gears look great upon teardown and they can extend time between rebuilds. ATV/UTV Oils (5W-50, 10W-40) – Similar to motorcycle oils, but targeted at the duty cycle of ATVs and side-by-sides which may see both high revving and lugging, and often run in dirty, wet conditions. AMSOIL ATV/UTV oils contain extra anti-corrosion protection and can handle some fuel dilution (from idling or low-speed running). They ensure strong wear protection for both engine and trans, and stay fluid in extreme cold for ATVs used in winter.
Overall, using AMSOIL 4-stroke motorcycle/ATV oils results in cooler operation, longer component life, and in many cases improved performance (through reduced friction). Engines stay remarkably clean internally – ring grooves free of carbon, no sticky hydraulic lifters, etc. These oils all meet or exceed the manufacturer specs (e.g., API SN, JASO MA for wet clutch bikes, or specific manufacturer approvals where required), giving riders confidence and flexibility to use the best in their machines.
Marine 4-Stroke Oils
For marine inboard and sterndrive engines (Mercruiser, Volvo Penta, etc.) and four-stroke outboards/PWC, AMSOIL offers marine-specific synthetic oils (10W-30, 10W-40, and FC-W 25W-40). These oils are formulated to resist the unique challenges of the marine environment. They have increased rust and corrosion inhibitors because marine engines often face humidity, saltwater exposure, and extended off-season storage.
They also have excellent shear stability and viscosity retention for high-RPM, continuous operation. For example, the 25W-40 Synthetic Marine Oil carries the NMMA FC-W® certification (including the CAT– (catalyst-compatible) designation), which means it passed rigorous tests for rust resistance, filter plugging, and viscosity retention in marine engines. These oils protect against fuel dilution and water contamination (some fuel may enter oil from long idling or cold operation – AMSOIL marine oils handle that without emulsifying or losing protection).
They also do an outstanding job keeping pistons and combustion chambers clean, as marine engines can be prone to carbon due to running cooler at times. Users commonly see reduced oil consumption and virtually zero corrosion on internal parts when using AMSOIL marine oils. Whether it’s a high-revving personal watercraft or a big V8 inboard, these oils maintain a strong lubricating film and keep your marine engine running reliably during the season and protected in the off-season.
(Note: Many modern outboards are 4-stroke – AMSOIL’s marine 10W-30 or 10W-40 is ideal for Yamaha, Honda, Mercury, etc. outboards. Additionally, AMSOIL has a specific WCF 15W-50 for racing marine applications or those requiring a heavier oil.)
Small Engine Oils (Lawn & Garden, Commercial Equipment)
Small engines – such as those in lawn mowers, generators, pressure washers, and other equipment – often run under constant heavy loads, higher temperatures, and less maintenance than automotive engines. Recognizing this, AMSOIL developed 100% Synthetic Small-Engine Oil in various viscosities ( SAE 30/10W-30, 10W-40, etc.). These oils are true commercial-grade formulations with a focus on maximum durability rather than passenger car fuel efficiency requirements.
They are shear-stable and high-ZDDP (zinc) oils with no friction modifiers that could compromise engine protection. One standout performance aspect: AMSOIL’s 10W-30 Small-Engine Oil was tested for 200 hours in severe service (which is roughly equivalent to an entire mowing season running 8 hours a day) – it successfully protected the engine throughout, demonstrating it can easily go longer between changes. The formulation significantly reduces oil consumption in hard-working engines; lab tests showed 61% less oil consumption compared to leading conventional 10W-30 oils.
This is largely due to the oil’s low volatility (it doesn’t boil off in heat) and its ability to resist oxidation thickening. For the operator, that means less need to top-off oil and less risk of running low on oil. It also keeps engines clean of carbon and varnish – AMSOIL small-engine oil contains strong detergents to prevent ring sticking and combustion chamber deposits.
The result is that engines maintain their compression and power over time (indeed, AMSOIL’s data sheet shows pistons and rings stayed virtually deposit-free after 500 hours of severe testing). Another advantage: this oil is rust-inhibited, which is important for seasonal equipment that might sit in a shed for months – it leaves a protective film that wards off corrosion during storage. These small-engine oils are true multi-functional lubricants – suitable for gasoline or diesel small engines (many generators are diesel), and for both splash-lubricated and pressure-lubed systems. They far exceed the performance of simple SAE30 monogrades or generic 10W-30s often used in mowers. Users switching to AMSOIL in commercial mowers or snowblowers often report lower oil consumption, lower operating temps, easier starts, and longer engine life.
For example, in zero-turn mowers that run hot, AMSOIL prevents the oil from oxidizing into sludge – operators find the oil still amber and fluid after a hard summer, whereas conventional oil would be black and thick. Overall, AMSOIL small-engine oils ensure your equipment runs cooler, makes optimum power, and lasts longer, while also allowing extended drain intervals (important for commercial users wanting to reduce downtime – these oils can often go double the manufacturer’s hour recommendation safely, especially with an AMSOIL oil filter). Even if changed at normal intervals, they provide a great insurance policy against engine wear or failure in demanding service.
Fuel Additives
To complement its lubricants, AMSOIL offers a line of fuel additives that enhance fuel quality, clean fuel systems, and address specific fuel-related issues. These products are formulated with the same rigorous approach to performance and protection: Gasoline Additives: P.i.® Performance Improver: This is a potent gasoline detergent additive that, when added to a tank of fuel, cleans deposit build-up on fuel injectors, intake valves, and in combustion chambers. It can restore lost horsepower, smoother idle, and improved fuel economy by removing those power-robbing deposits. In fact, AMSOIL P.i. can clean injectors and valves in as little as one tank and typically improves fuel economy by an average of 2-5% (and much more if the fuel system was very dirty).
It’s used every 4,000 miles or so as a “shock treatment” for cleaning. By keeping injectors spraying optimally and valves sealing properly, P.i. helps maintain peak engine performance and efficiency. Upper Cylinder Lubricant (UCL): This additive is designed to add lubricity to gasoline (especially important with today’s ethanol-blended fuels which can be dry) and to protect the top end of the engine. It fights ethanol-related corrosion and wear in the fuel system. Notably, tests have shown AMSOIL Upper Cylinder Lubricant provides 18% more lubricity than Lucas UCL and 20% more than Sea Foam in the ASTM D6079 wear test.
In that test (modified for gasoline use), AMSOIL UCL produced a much smaller wear scar on a metal specimen than those competing products, indicating better boundary lubrication. That translates to less wear on fuel pump components (especially direct-injection high-pressure pumps, which rely on fuel for lubrication) and injector needles. Using UCL at every fill-up also keeps injectors clean (it has a light detergent) and can slightly improve combustion, contributing to maintained fuel economy and power.
It’s packaged in small bottles suitable for treating one tank, including being capless-fuel-system compatible, making it convenient for continuous use. Gasoline Stabilizer: Formulated for storage of fuel (e.g., in seasonal equipment, classic cars, or rarely-used tools). It prevents the oxidation of gasoline that leads to varnish, gum, and deposits. With ethanol-blended gas, it also fights phase separation and corrosion (ethanol can attract moisture).
One ounce treats 2.5 gallons, and it keeps gasoline fresh for extended periods (many months to a year). This ensures that when you go to start that stored snowblower or lawn mower, it fires up easily and the carburetor isn’t gummed up. It’s a crucial product for winterizing equipment or storing collector cars – fuel systems remain clean and varnish-free, and engines are protected from acidic fuel breakdown products.
Octane Boost (AMSOIL also sells an octane booster for those needing a bump in gasoline octane for performance engines). It uses MMT to safely raise octane and improve ignition quality, helping eliminate knock or ping in high-compression or forced-induction engines. It also contains detergents.
While primarily marketed to performance car owners, it can be useful if you’re stuck with lower octane fuel or want a little extra assurance against knock on a hot day or under heavy load. Diesel Fuel Additives: Diesel All-In-One: This is a convenient combination additive that includes the benefits of a cetane booster, concentrated detergent, lubricity improver, and anti-gel cold flow improver – all in one bottle. It is formulated to increase cetane up to 4 points, which helps diesel engines start quicker, noise is reduced, and combustion is more complete (more power, less emissions). It also cleans injectors similar to a dedicated injector cleaner, removing deposits that cause injector sticking or poor spray patterns.
By cleaning up injectors, All-In-One can restore lost power and fuel economy in a diesel. The lubricity improver adds needed lubrication to ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) fuel – protecting fuel pump and injectors from wear (this is critical on systems like the Bosch CP4 pump known for wear issues; additional lubricity can prevent expensive failures). In industry tests, AMSOIL’s additive has shown to exceed the recommended wear scar reduction levels for HFRR (High-Frequency Reciprocating Rig) testing, indicating excellent lubricity enhancement.
Lastly, the anti-gel component lowers the cold filter plug point (CFPP) of diesel fuel, meaning in cold weather the fuel won’t gel as easily. This helps prevent clogged fuel filters and keeps diesels running in sub-freezing temperatures. Diesel All-In-One is popular in winter months especially, as one product handles both cleaning and anti-gel.
It keeps diesel engines running smooth year-round, with easier starts, less smoke, full power, and protected fuel systems. Diesel Injector Clean: A standalone ultra-concentrated cleaner for diesel fuel systems. It’s similar to the detergent portion of All-In-One but without the cold-flow or cetane parts. A single treatment can remove foul deposits from injector tips, restore spray pattern, and increase power.
It’s very effective for modern high-pressure common-rail injectors as well as older IDI engines. Regular use keeps combustion efficient and prevents power loss. It also helps combat internal diesel injector deposits (IDID) that can cause injector sticking.
By using Injector Clean periodically, diesel owners can maintain “like-new” performance and avoid costly injector replacements. Diesel Cold Flow: A specialized winter additive for those who may not need the full All-In-One. It significantly lowers the pour point and CFPP of diesel fuel, improving winter operability. It also contains a de-icer to address moisture that can freeze.
This is used by truck fleets and diesel owners in cold climates to prevent fuel gelling or waxing when temperatures drop. It ensures the fuel remains flowing through filters and lines. Cold Flow can be used with AMSOIL Injector Clean or other additives if cleaning is also needed.
Cetane Boost (separate): For diesel owners in warm climates who just want a cetane improver and maybe a little lubricity, AMSOIL offers a cetane booster additive that can raise cetane by up to 7 points. Higher cetane = shorter ignition delay = more complete burn, which yields easier starting, less knock, and often a smoother, quieter idle. It’s beneficial for high-performance diesels or any ULSD fuel that tends to have low natural cetane.
Using AMSOIL fuel additives, whether in gas or diesel, results in cleaner engines, restored performance, and preventive maintenance against fuel-related failures. For example, using P.i. can increase horsepower by cleaning valves (restoring compression and airflow) – AMSOIL has shown in testing the restoration of up to 14% power in an automobile after heavy deposits were cleaned. Likewise, diesel additives can improve fuel economy by ensuring fine injector spray (some users see a few % mpg improvement after cleaning injectors and boosting cetane).
Additionally, these additives protect against ethanol or water corrosion, meaning fuel systems stay in better shape long-term (fuel pump wear is reduced, injectors last longer). All are easy to use – typically pour into tank at fill-up – and treat a large amount of fuel, making them economical per use.
Cleaners and Protectants
AMSOIL’s product line also includes various cleaners and protectant chemicals to keep vehicles and equipment in top condition. These are professional-strength formulations that reflect the company’s overall emphasis on performance and equipment longevity: Engine & Transmission Flush: AMSOIL Engine Flush is a detergent-based flush (safe for engines and even automatic transmissions) that is used right before an oil change. You add it to the old oil and idle the engine for ~15-20 minutes. The flush dissolves and loosens sludge, varnish, and carbon deposits from inside the crankcase and oil passages.
When you drain the oil, a lot of that built-up grime drains out with it. This is especially beneficial when switching to AMSOIL or another synthetic in an older engine that may have deposits from conventional oil – flushing ensures the new oil isn’t immediately contaminated by old sludge. It can free sticking piston rings and lifters, helping restore compression and reduce oil consumption in some cases.
It’s formulated to be gentle (no solvents that could harm seals), using potent detergents to do the cleaning. Many users note much cleaner internals (seen through oil fill or valve cover) after using AMSOIL flush, and a cleaner engine means the new oil can deliver peak performance. AMSOIL Power Foam: This is a powerful spray cleaner for intake systems. It’s used to clean throttle bodies, intake runners, intake valves (for port-injected engines), and combustion chamber deposits. You spray it into the intake (usually with engine running at fast idle, following instructions), and it will dissolve gum, varnish, and carbon.
It’s particularly useful for solving rough idle, hesitation, or pinging issues that are caused by carbon buildup. On older engines with a lot of deposits, huge plumes of black smoke/soot may come out as Power Foam does its job and the loosened carbon is burned off. It also cleans carburetor throats and plates effectively.
After a treatment, throttle response typically improves, idle smooths out, and the engine can breathe easier. It’s like a “tune-up in a can” for the induction system. Note: it should not be used on engines with direct injection to clean intake valves (since those often require intake manifold removal for manual cleaning), but it will still clean the combustion chamber of DI engines.
It’s great for small engines too – cleaning out deposits in lawn equipment that cause performance loss. MP Metal Protector & MP Heavy Duty: These are aerosol sprays that provide penetrating lubrication and corrosion protection. MP (regular) is a light-duty protectant that displaces water (kind of like a superior WD-40). It’s good for freeing up rusty parts, lubricating hinges, or leaving a thin anti-rust film on tools, firearms, etc.
MP Heavy Duty is a thicker, waxy film protectant that you spray on and it leaves a more robust coating for long-term outdoor storage protection (for battery terminals, winterizing farm equipment, undercarriage touch-up, etc.). Both are great for stopping existing rust and preventing new rust. They do not dry out quickly, so the protective effect lasts.
Miracle Wash®: An AMSOIL aerosol product (also available as a pump spray) that is a waterless wash and wax. You spray it onto a dusty or lightly dirty vehicle and wipe off – it cleans the surface without scratching and leaves behind a glossy, water-repellent wax finish. It’s great for quick detailing or when you don’t have access to a hose.
The chemistry lifts dirt particles and encapsulates them so they can be wiped off safely. It’s also anti-static, so it helps repel dust after use. This is more of an appearance product, but it reflects AMSOIL’s attention to detail – allowing enthusiasts to keep their vehicles clean conveniently.
Mudslinger®: A unique off-road equipment protectant. This spray is applied to ATVs, dirt bikes, 4x4s, etc. before riding in mud or on surfaces likely to cause grime. It leaves a thin non-stick coating on the surfaces (plastic, metal, painted parts) that prevents mud and dirt from adhering strongly.
After the ride, cleanup is vastly easier – mud either falls off or rinses off without scrubbing. It also leaves a shiny finish and provides some UV protection. Mudslinger is popular among motocross riders and off-roaders who don’t want to spend hours cleaning – it reduces mud accumulation and what does stick comes off with much less effort.
It also helps prevent staining or dulling of finishes from clinging dirt. Think of it as a temporary sacrificial coating that takes the abuse so your bike or ATV’s finish doesn’t have to. Glass Cleaner: AMSOIL Glass Cleaner is a professional-strength aerosol glass cleaner that’s ammonia-free (safe on tint). It foams and cuts through oily films, bug splatter, and smoke residue very quickly, leaving a streak-free clear finish. It’s a detailer favorite because it works fast and doesn’t require a ton of wiping to clear.
Heavy-Duty Degreaser: AMSOIL recently introduced a heavy-duty degreaser aerosol. It’s a powerful solvent cleaner that can be used on engine parts, industrial equipment, chains, etc., to remove built-up grease and grime. It’s biodegradable and non-flammable, making it a safer alternative to some hazardous solvents.
Spray it on greasy engine blocks or oil stains and it quickly breaks them down for rinsing off. It’s great for cleaning parts before reassembly (ensuring no oil or grease where you don’t want it). Overall, AMSOIL’s cleaners and protectants are about maintenance and longevity as much as their lubricants are. A clean engine runs cooler and more efficiently; a protected metal surface doesn’t rust and weaken. Using these products can prevent issues down the line – like a fuel system cleaner preventing clogged injectors, or Metal Protector stopping rust that could seize a bolt.
They also make maintenance tasks easier (e.g., easier cleanup with Mudslinger, easier oil changes with less sludge after a flush). For those who take comprehensive care of their vehicles/equipment, these products save time and money in the long run, and keep everything looking and performing its best.
Appearance & Car Care
While AMSOIL built its reputation on hardcore lubrication and protection, it also recognizes that enthusiasts want to keep their vehicles looking as good as they run. Thus, AMSOIL offers a range of premium appearance and car care products to clean, shine, and protect vehicle surfaces: Car Wash and Wax Products: AMSOIL has concentrated car wash soap that safely lifts dirt without stripping wax. It produces rich suds for lubrication and contains surfactants that remove road grime and bug splatter effectively. After cleaning, AMSOIL’s Liquid Wax or Spray Wax can be applied to enhance gloss and add a protective layer.
These waxes use high-grade carnauba and synthetic polymers to provide a deep shine and protect paint from UV rays, acid rain, and bird droppings. They are easy to apply and buff off, leaving no white residue on trim. Regular waxing with these will keep your paint glossy and sealed against the elements.
Detailing Sprays: For quick touch-ups between washes, AMSOIL offers detailing spray (like Miracle Wash mentioned earlier). This can remove light dust, fingerprints, and water spots while renewing the shine. It’s perfect for car show prep or weekly maintenance.
Using a detailing spray helps maintain a just-waxed appearance and can extend the life of your wax coating. Trim and Tire Protectants: Mudslinger, aside from its mud-prevention function, also acts as a plastic, vinyl, and rubber protectant. It leaves a satin finish on fenders, hoses, and tires, and its formula helps condition these materials to prevent cracking and fading. It repels mud and dirt on ATVs, but on a street vehicle it doubles as a tire shine or engine bay dressing that isn’t overly greasy.
AMSOIL likely also carries a dedicated tire shine that gives tires a dark, like-new appearance without sling. Glass and Interior: The Glass Cleaner was already detailed – safe and streak-free on windows and mirrors (also great for chrome and polished metal surfaces). For interiors, AMSOIL partners with respected brands for things like leather cleaner/conditioner and upholstery cleaners (in the past they’ve offered products like Mothers® Leather Conditioner through their network). These products help clean and preserve leather, vinyl, and fabric – for example, a leather conditioner that replenishes oils to keep leather seats soft and prevents UV cracking, or an interior detailer that removes dust and leaves a non-greasy OEM-looking finish on the dash.
Metal Polish: For those with aluminum or chrome, AMSOIL has a metal polish that can remove oxidation and restore mirror shine to metal surfaces. It’s useful for wheels, exhaust tips, metal trim, etc. It often contains fine abrasives and protectants in one step, leaving a protective coating to slow down tarnishing after polishing.
Using AMSOIL car care products, you can achieve show-car results. They are formulated to be easy to use and highly effective, saving time while giving professional outcomes. For instance, the AMSOIL Miracle Wash waterless cleaner is not just convenient but also produces a just-waxed shine without water – extremely useful for apartment dwellers or drought areas where traditional washing is tough.
The result is a vehicle that not only performs like a champion but also turns heads with its appearance. And because many of these products have protective qualities (UV protection in waxes and dressings, water repellency on glass), they help maintain the vehicle’s finishes and value over time. Paint stays healthier (less oxidation or clear coat failure), rubber and plastic stay supple and dark, and overall the vehicle resists aging from environmental exposure.
Essentially, AMSOIL’s car care line extends the brand’s “protection” ethos to the aesthetic realm, ensuring enthusiasts have a one-stop solution for both performance and presentation.
