AMSOIL Automotive Oils for Gas Engines

Need the flagship line? See Signature Series. Need diesel engine oil instead? See Diesel Oils.

This page covers AMSOIL automotive oils for gasoline engines outside the Signature Series line and outside the dedicated diesel lines. It is built to help you understand the main AMSOIL gasoline oil families first, then use the lookup guide to choose the exact products your vehicle needs.

Start here first: use the lookup guide

The main place to determine what to buy is the AMSOIL Auto & Light Truck Lookup Guide.

Use the guide first because it helps match your exact vehicle to the right:

  • motor oil viscosity
  • AMSOIL oil family
  • required specifications
  • oil filter
  • oil capacity

You do not need to go back to the individual oil pages below to buy. Once you enter your vehicle in the guide, the guide results direct you to the products that fit your application. The individual product links on this page are here so you can review each oil family and viscosity separately.

Start here:

Some AMSOIL oils share the same viscosity but are designed for different engines, drain intervals or approval requirements. That is why the lookup guide should come first, and the individual product links should come second.

Gasoline motor oil families

Everyday OE protection

AMSOIL OE 100% Synthetic Motor Oil is the standard starting point for many modern gasoline vehicles. It is built for advanced engine technology, including turbos and direct injection, and is formulated for the drain intervals recommended by original equipment manufacturers.

Available viscosities:

Synthetic-blend upgrade

AMSOIL Synthetic-Blend Motor Oil is a strong step up for drivers who want a synthetic-blend option for everyday service. It helps control deposits, resist thickening, limit oil consumption and stay fluid in cold temperatures for easier starts.

Available viscosities:

Longer normal-service intervals

AMSOIL Extended-Life 100% Synthetic Motor Oil is built for drivers who want longer normal-service protection. It provides 37% more cleaning power than AMSOIL OE and offers up to 20,000 miles or 1 year of normal-service protection.

Available viscosities:

Vehicles with 75,000+ miles

AMSOIL 100% Synthetic High-Mileage Motor Oil is designed for higher-mileage gasoline vehicles. It uses boosted detergency and anti-wear additives to help clean and protect engines with more than 75,000 miles and provides up to 12,000 miles or 1 year of normal-service protection.

Available viscosities:

Hybrid-specific gasoline engine oils

AMSOIL 100% Synthetic Hybrid Motor Oil is built for hybrid gasoline engines that deal with frequent starts and stops, fuel dilution and rapid engine engagement. The 0W-16 and 0W-20 formulas provide up to 15,000 miles or 1 year in normal service, while 0W-8 follows the OEM drain interval.

Available viscosities:

European gasoline applications

AMSOIL 100% Synthetic European Motor Oil is the right place to look when your gasoline vehicle requires European approvals or manufacturer-specific formulas. Use the lookup guide and your owner’s manual to match the exact formula, not just the viscosity. These oils are built for long drain intervals recommended by European automakers and are formulated to help protect emissions systems.

Available viscosities:

Specialty gasoline oils

High-zinc protection for older gasoline engines

AMSOIL Premium Protection Synthetic Motor Oil is a high-zinc option for older gasoline engines, flat-tappet cam applications and specialty builds that need added wear protection and deposit control.

Available viscosities:

Classic cars and stored performance vehicles

AMSOIL Z-ROD® Synthetic Motor Oil is specially engineered for classic cars and performance vehicles. It combines high levels of ZDDP with rust inhibitors to help protect engines that see seasonal use or storage.

Available viscosities:

Racing and track-focused oils

AMSOIL DOMINATOR® 100% Synthetic Racing Oil is for high-performance and racing applications where maximum horsepower, cooler temperatures and strong protection under severe stress matter. For normal street-vehicle fitment, start with the lookup guide first before choosing a racing formula.

Available viscosities:

Break-in for new or rebuilt gasoline engines

AMSOIL SAE 30 Break-In Oil is a specialty oil for new or rebuilt high-performance gasoline engines. It is built to protect critical parts during break-in with added zinc and phosphorus.

Available viscosity:

Quick way to narrow down your oil family

  • Choose OE if your gasoline vehicle follows normal OEM-recommended oil-change intervals and you want a dependable 100% synthetic starting point.
  • Choose Synthetic-Blend if you want a synthetic-blend upgrade for daily driving and light-duty work.
  • Choose Extended-Life if longer normal-service intervals are a priority.
  • Choose High-Mileage if your gasoline vehicle has more than 75,000 miles.
  • Choose Hybrid if your vehicle is a hybrid or plug-in hybrid and the guide shows a hybrid-specific viscosity.
  • Choose European Motor Oil if your owner’s manual requires European approvals or a specific European formula.
  • Choose Premium Protection or Z-ROD® if you are maintaining an older gasoline engine, flat-tappet valvetrain, classic car or specialty build.
  • Choose DOMINATOR® or Break-In Oil only when your engine build or application specifically calls for a racing or break-in formula.

Use the lookup guide before you buy

The AMSOIL Auto & Light Truck Lookup Guide is still the main place to determine what to buy. Enter your vehicle there to confirm the correct oil, filter, viscosity and capacity, then buy from the guide results.

You do not need to return to the individual oil pages above to complete a purchase. Those links are here to help you review the listed AMSOIL oil families and viscosities on their own.
